Deep Metkar is an Indian cinematographer based in Mumbai. Hailing from Nashik, Maharashtra, his cinematic journey began with exploring still photography as a medium.

 

Deep gained early experience working on sports broadcasts like the IPL and Pro Kabaddi League amongst other broadcasts, and further refined his craft under the mentorship of renowned cinematographer Sanu John Varughese, assisting on the feature film Wazir (2016). He went on to formally train at the prestigious Prague Film School (2017), working on numerous short films, music videos, and commercials during his time there.

His cinematic expertise spans feature films, advertisements, television, and digital content, with notable projects such as Barot House(2019), Meal (2020), Nail Polish (2021), 200: Halla Ho (2021), Laali (2022), Dil Dosti Dilemma (2024) and his upcoming release Pune Highway (2024), which premiered at IFFI.

With his acute sense of lighting and composition, Deep creates visuals which enhance each project, whether in psychological thrillers, social dramas, advertisements or web series. Being a keen observer, the complexity of nature has always been Deep’s inspiration.
